Zoe Asensio-Sanchez has joined Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as Director of Estates and Facilities and the Built Environment.

An architect by background, Zoe is an experienced leader in environment and infrastructure across the commercial, charity, education and health sectors.

Zoe joins the Trust's Executive Team from her previous post as Director of Estates and Facilities at Anglia Ruskin University. Prior to this she has held a number of director-level roles, including at King's College London, and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She was also recently seconded to work on the NHS Nightingale Hospital project, providing an invaluable insight into how the people of the NHS have pulled together during the COVID-19 pandemic to make a major infrastructure project a reality.

Zoe Asensio-Sanchez said: "I am thrilled to be joining GOSH. This is my dream role and being able to work with children and young people is exciting. They are as honest as you get!

"This is obviously a very interesting and challenging time to be starting this new role at GOSH, as the NHS continues to work through the COVID-19 pandemic, but I am very much looking forward to it. GOSH is a fantastic organisation and there is a real sense of shared purpose. I am delighted that I will be playing my part."

Zoe succeeds Acting Director of Built Environment Stephanie Williamson has taken up the post of Director of Design and Development at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Chief Executive, Mat Shaw said: “I am thrilled Zoe is joining our executive team. She brings a wealth of experience to this vital role which leads on ensuring our current estate and facilities and redevelopment and modernisation projects provide the best possible care and experience our patients, their families and our staff.

"I would like to thank Stephanie Williamson for her contribution as Acting Director of Built Environment over recent months. She has provided crucial leadership in a very challenging period for the whole NHS, and we are grateful for all she has contributed to GOSH since first joining in 2013 as Deputy Director of Development."
